New Report Says Employee Benefits Awareness Is Up, But Satisfaction Lags
A new report from WTW reveals that while 84% of employees feel informed about their benefits, overall satisfaction has dropped to 61%.

Key Points
- A new report from WTW reveals that while 84% of employees feel informed about their benefits, overall satisfaction has dropped to 61%.
- The data suggests that effective communication alone is not improving the perceived value of benefits, challenging employers to re-evaluate their offerings.
- Satisfaction with non-monetary perks like wellness programs and flexible work has climbed to 66%, indicating a shift in employee priorities beyond direct pay.
A new report from global advisory firm WTW reveals a strange disconnect in the workplace: while employees are more informed about their benefits than ever, their actual satisfaction has declined, pointing to a growing gap between communication and perceived value.
By the numbers: The firm's latest survey found that 84% of workers now feel well-informed about their compensation packages, a jump from 77% in 2024. Yet in the same period, satisfaction has simultaneously dropped from 66% to 61%.
Lost in translation: The data suggests that simply explaining benefits isn't enough to make employees value them. "Employees may better understand their benefits, but that doesn’t mean those benefits are truly serving them," said Gaby Joyner, WTW's Head of Employee Experience for Europe. "Forward-thinking Total Rewards leaders aren’t just tracking usage, they’re listening."
A silver lining: Where companies are finding success is with non-monetary perks like wellness programs and flexible work. Satisfaction in this area has climbed to two-thirds (66%), suggesting employees are increasingly drawn to rewards beyond their direct pay.
The challenge for employers is shifting from simple communication to strategic listening. Finding the right balance of financial and non-financial rewards is now key to outperforming peers on engagement and retention.
